Jill Love, Photographer

Jill was one of the original owners of Artistica and, although she is currently engaged in other life pursuits, she has continued on as a guest artist here. Here is what excites Jill about photography:

“I live in Livingston County after living in Dexter for many years. I’ve been creating art with photos all of my adult life. Art is magic for me; a moment when my senses are heightened, and self-expression of the love I feel for the beauty I see is transformed into art I call my own. Ansel Adams said, ‘We don’t make a photograph just with a camera. We bring to the art of photography all the books we have read, the music we have heard, and the people we have loved.’

In my 7th decade, I find myself much like I was at 5; filled with boundless curiosity, a passion for all that is beautiful, and a deep abiding love of nature’s gifts. Some of my work is sold in greeting card form here at Artistica. Enjoy. Thank you.”

Connie Pickering Stover, art photography

Connie’s colorful artwork just arrived at Artistica Gallery and we couldn’t be happier! Her bright and bold colors make a cheerful backdrop to our store. Connie says, “I cannot resist the call of dusty old barns, nor the sight of rust, cobwebs, and peeling paint found on everyday items that are long past their intended usefulness. When a rusted buggy wheel is just lying in the sunshine on the floor of a 140-year-old hayloft, I am compelled to capture the graphical shape, the surrounding light and the dusty textures. But I’m a contemporary gal so I present to you the long-forgotten in bright and bold imagery. I really hope you like my perspective.”

All her images are available printed on fabric, for creating one-of-a-kind pillows, and on coffee mugs, upon request.
